Cifas Chair steps down

21 January 2016

Cifas has announced today that Ken Cherrett will be stepping down as Chair in September. Ken was appointed Chair when the Board was formed in 1991 and has overseen Cifas grow from a small credit industry fraud prevention organisation into the UK’s largest fraud prevention database, working with more than 350 organisations spanning the public, private and third sectors.

Ken said:
“I am immensely proud of what Cifas has achieved in its 27 year history. I have had the pleasure of working with committed, passionate fraud prevention professionals to ensure that we do everything we can to protect UK plc and individuals from fraud. Working across silos, Cifas has protected thousands of individuals from fraud and prevented billions from falling into the hands of fraudsters.

“Cifas has a clear vision to ensure that it continues to innovate, to share knowledge and data, protect citizens and support organisations to meet the ever-evolving threats from financial crime.”

Simon Dukes, Chief Executive, Cifas, said:
“We are enormously grateful to Ken for all that he has helped Cifas to achieve and for his sound and insightful leadership. He will remain Chair until September to ensure we have a planned transition before handing over responsibilities to a new Chair.”
