Professional Certificate in Fraud Prevention

This is an all-encompassing and highly practical course, relevant for fraud and financial professionals at all career stages - whether starting out, aiming for the next level, or gaining official recognition of years of experience. Fully accredited and Ofqual-recognised. 

Course structure

The SFJ Awards Professional Certificate in Fraud Prevention teaches you how to understand and assess the risk of fraud facing an organisation and develop prevention strategies, across five core Units:

U1.    Gain a thorough understanding of fraud, including the types of fraud and the theories that explain the motivation for the fraudster. The unit also covers the range of fraud indicators and how they might be identified.

U2.    Learn how organisations can deter fraud, including fraud risk management and counter fraud policies and plans. Look at fraud prevention programmes and how employees are protected when reporting concerns relating to fraud.

U3.    Learn how individuals can be protected from fraud, the delivery of fraud prevention advice and the support available for victims.

U4.    Understand how campaigns are used in fraud prevention and the skills to produce a fraud prevention campaign plan.

U5.    From online retail platforms to data analytics and AI, explore how technology is used to both commit and prevent fraud.

Course delivery

This course is delivered online via our learning platform Moodle, which is accessible 24/7.  All tutor-led sessions and resources are recorded for fully flexible study, and and learners will be able to arrange access to experts for guidance and support throughout the course.

Timetable

Start date: 7 December 2020
Teaching: 9.30-11.30 each Monday from 7 December – 1 March (No teaching on 21 and 28 December and 4 January)
Self-study commitment: 6 hours per week; written assignment submitted 6 weeks after teaching ends

Our tutors estimate six hours per week time commitment for the Professional Certificate in Fraud Prevention, but this may vary depending on the individual learner. 

Accreditation

Your qualification is accredited by SFJ Awards, a national awarding body, and recognised by Ofqual, the government department that regulates qualifications, exams and tests in England and known as the exam 'watchdog'.
