The SFJ Awards Professional Certificate in Fraud Investigation provides you with the comprehensive knowledge and insightful skills you need across nine core Units:
U1. Identify your responsibilities as a fraud investigator in relation to key principles such as data management, fairness and ethics.
U2. Understand fraud and fraudsters - theories behind fraud, the typologies that categorise it, and the motivations and methods of the fraudster.
U3. Learn the key legislation that drives and underpins fraud.
U4. Effectively identify, collate and manage crucial intelligence.
U5. Understand the principles of fraud investigation: decision making, applying the investigative mindset, examining the evidence and speaking to witnesses, and reporting and evaluating findings.
U6. Learn to work legally and effectively with third party organisations and partners from across the sectors.
U7. Develop your investigative interviewing skills - from creating the right environment to witness management.
U8. Prepare and plan your investigative process to maximise its effectiveness.
U9. Report on your findings and prepare it for the next stages: closure, handover or prosecution.
This course is delivered online via our learning platform Moodle, which is accessible 24/7. All tutor-led sessions and resources are recorded for fully flexible study, and and learners will be able to arrange access to experts for guidance and support throughout the course.
Start date: 1 December 2020
Teaching: 9.30am-3.30pm every Tuesday from 1 December – 23 February (No teaching 22 and 29 December. Additional teaching day Weds 27 January.)
Self-study commitment: 8 hours per week; written assignment submitted 6 weeks after teaching ends
Our tutors estimate eight hours per week time commitment for the Professional Certificate in Fraud Prevention, but this may vary depending on the individual learner.
Your qualification is accredited by SFJ Awards, a national awarding body, and recognised by Ofqual, the government department that regulates qualifications, exams and tests in England and known as the exam 'watchdog'.
