Will the CIFAS victim of an impersonation warning that was recorded to protectmy identity stop me from getting credit or insurance or any other service?

No. A Victim of Impersonation warning recorded by one of our Members to protect your identity will not result in your applications being rejected. These warnings make it clear that you are the genuine party, and that you have been (or suspect you may be) the victim of an identity theft.

When you make an application for an account or facility, the Victim of Impersonation warning alerts the CIFAS Member that a third party has previously used (or may use) your identity fraudulently. The Member will then make extra checks to verify that the application is genuine and that they are not dealing with the fraudster.
