1. Introduction and General Terms
CIFAS is committed to safeguarding your personal information when you visit our website. This Privacy Policy relates to our use of any personal information you provide to us through this website and any other electronic communications networks such as emails.
This privacy policy explains the following:
CIFAS is registered with the UK's Information Commissioner under the Data Protection Act 1998 (the "Act"). Whenever you provide personal information, we are legally obliged to use your information in line with all laws concerning the protection of personal information, including the Act (these laws are referred to collectively in this Privacy Policy as the "data protection laws").
This website contains hyperlinks to websites owned and operated by third parties. These third party websites have their own privacy policies, including cookies, and we urge you to review them. They will govern the use of personal information you submit or which are collected by cookies whilst visiting these websites. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy practices of such third party websites and your use of them is at your own risk.
2. What information will CIFAS collect about me?
When you contact us regarding one of our services, such as Training Services, Meeting Room Hire or Speakers for Events, the request forms we ask you to complete include some personal information about you. This can consist of information such as your name as the contact point for an organisation, your email address and the organisation's address. Different web pages may ask for different personal information.
By entering your details in the fields requested, you enable CIFAS to provide you with the services you select.
When you email us for further information on topics such as Staff Fraud or Protective Registration, you will be providing us with your email address and any other information you include in the message.
By entering your details in your email, you enable CIFAS to respond to your enquiry.
Our website provider (www.hi-tek.co.uk) uses cookies (see section 13 below for details) to collect standard internet log information, such as IP addresses, to help analyse how visitors use the site and to compile statistical reports on website activity for CIFAS. This information is not used to develop a personal profile of you.
All our website financial transactions are handled through our payment services provider, Protx, a division of Sage (UK) Limited. We will share information with Protx only to the extent necessary for the purposes of processing payments you make via our website. When payment is taken, no details are held in session or cookies. Card details are sent directly to the bank clearing process via a secure link and only responses are recorded.
CIFAS will not (and will not allow its website provider) to use the information and/or any statistical analytics tool to track or to collect any personally identifiable information of visitors to our site. We will not associate any data gathered from this site with any personally identifying information from any source.

3. How will CIFAS use the information they collect about me?
CIFAS will use your personal information to contact you about a submission you have made through the website and to enable CIFAS to respond to your enquiry.
CIFAS will use your personal information to provide the service you have requested.
IP addresses are used to identify the location of users, the number of visits from different countries and also to block disruptive use.
Where CIFAS proposes using your personal information for any other uses we will ensure that we notify you first. You will also be given the opportunity to withhold or withdraw your consent for your use other than as listed above.

5. Will I be contacted for marketing purposes?
CIFAS will not contact you for marketing purposes.
6. Will CIFAS share my personal information with anyone else?
We will keep your information confidential, but may disclose it to any of our employees, officers, agents, suppliers or subcontractors insofar as it is reasonably necessary for the purposes as set out in this privacy policy. We will share information with our payment services provider, Protx as described in Section 2 above.
In addition, we may disclose your information to the extent that we are required to do so by law (which may include to government bodies and law enforcement agencies); in connection with any legal proceedings or prospective legal proceedings; in order to establish, exercise or defend our legal rights (including providing information to others for the purposes of fraud prevention).
Except as provided above, we will not provide your information to third parties.

7. Offensive or inappropriate content
If you send offensive, inappropriate or objectionable content to www.cifas.org.uk, or otherwise engage in any disruptive behaviour on www.cifas.org.uk, CIFAS may use your personal information to stop such behaviour.
Where CIFAS reasonably believes that you are or may be in breach of any of the laws of England or Wales (e.g. because content you have sent may be defamatory), CIFAS may use your personal information to inform relevant third parties such as your e-mail/Internet provider or law enforcement agencies about the content.
8. What if I am a user aged 16 or under?
If you are aged 16 or under, please get your parent/guardian's permission beforehand whenever you provide personal information through the CIFAS website. Users without this consent are not allowed to provide us with personal information.
9. How long will CIFAS keep my personal information?
We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant service.
10. Can I find out what personal information CIFAS holds about me?
The Data Protection Act gives you the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. If you would like a copy, please send a letter requesting this information together with a cheque for £10 payable to CIFAS and 2 pieces of approved identification. We will use reasonable efforts to the extent required by law to supply, correct or delete personal information held about you on our files.

We will take all reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information.
